If you haven’t claimed it (like I did), you’ll see a button to add it to your account. Once you’ve fired up GOG Galaxy and logged into your account, scroll down on the store page and you’ll see the following: GOG Galaxy’s one of the better clients as far as digital marketplaces go, especially with the greater management for backups and its hassle-free offline functionality.

You’ll have to download the site’s GOG Galaxy middleware to get Looking Glass’s FPS thriller, although that’s not such a raw deal. But the best giveaway is one involving System Shock 2: because it’s free. The giveaway is part of GOG’s latest sale, and there are plenty of decent bargains on the front page if you’re curious. I'd say the Humble Store is probably my top priority store now, especially for DRM-free indie games! Then Steam, any inconveniences are generally outweighed by their ridiculous sales. If you haven’t played it, now’s your opportunity - because Good Old Games are giving it away for free. Still, to their credit, they do have a store credit system to try and balance out the difference, which is definitely appreciated. It's a pity, that really helped them stand out from the other stores. That policy got thrown out the window, too. They previously had a strict single price worldwide per game, which helps a lot in New Zealand as we often get unreasonably shafted for game prices. I emailed them about it but didn't even get a reply. Now I look at the store page and I've got no idea how much anything costs, and I don't want to run through a currency converter for each game.

I'd say a lot more NZers are more used to converting to and from USD in their head than to and from AUD. Reason being, they decided to implement regional currencies - but in New Zealand they decided it'd be a good idea to set the regional currency to Australian Dollars which makes as much sense to me as setting it to Swedish Krona. I'll still use it on occasion, mainly for old games, but it's not my top-priority game store any more. I used to use GOG for any game that was available on both that and Steam because I really like my games being DRM-free.
